He was the ancestor of an Edomite clan,〔David Mande, Who's Who in the Jewish Bible, pag 315.〕 and specifically he was the son of Eliphaz (Esau's eldest son). Omar's brothers were Teman, Zepho, Gatam, Kenaz and Amalek.〔Idem〕 Esau and his wife Adah (daughter of Elon the Hittite) were his grandparents. Taking that into account, it is clear that he was a great-grandson of Isaac and a great-great-grandson of Abraham, as well as a descendant of Adam and Eve. Historically, his name is first mentioned in the Book of Genesis, Chapter 36, verse 11.
