Omar (biblical figure)
Omar ((ヘブライ語:אוֹמָר), meaning "''eloquent''" or "''gifted speaker''")〔Peter Whiffin (2012), Names Amplification Bible, page 463〕 was a Hebrew man mentioned in the Bible. He was the ancestor of an Edomite clan,〔David Mande, Who's Who in the Jewish Bible, pag 315.〕 and specifically he was the son of Eliphaz (Esau's eldest son). Omar's brothers were Teman, Zepho, Gatam, Kenaz and Amalek.〔Idem〕
Esau and his wife Adah (daughter of Elon the Hittite) were his grandparents. Taking that into account, it is clear that he was a great-grandson of Isaac and a great-great-grandson of Abraham, as well as a descendant of Adam and Eve.
Historically, his name is first mentioned in the Book of Genesis, Chapter 36, verse 11. Nowadays, his name is rarely used by most Jews, but it continues to be a popular name among Temani Jews and is common in many countries.〔http://appellationmountain.net/name-of-the-day-omar/〕
